CAMPING TOURS

We will definitely be doing at least one camping tour this season! Dates are not yet set, but the first camping tour will be some time in June. Camping tours will be limited to no more than six participants, and at this point we have openings for as many as three more riders in the June tour. For those who want to fly in, rent a bike and do a tour, we can set you up with camping equipment for a nominal rental fee. No need to carry or ship your tent, sleeping bag etc. Rent it, use it, leave it and forget about it!

For more information about camping tours, go to our "Tours" page, click on the "Upcoming Tours" link at the bottom of the page and look for the tent!

Here's what one of our tour participants has to say about his experience with us last summer:

"Time for me to get off the dime and deliver a shout out, for Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Tours and to Bob Herman. I ran into Bob on the Internet, through a love of riding and maintaining vintage Norton motorcycles. In the spring of 2011 Bob organized an 8 day, vintage only camping tour, tailoring it to my specific desires. Going into the tour I had certain expectations as well as a few trepidations. To say the tour exceeded my expectations would still be an understatement! The routes and roads he chose were great sport, with little traffic, and were rich with spectacular scenery. The campgrounds on most nights were on different rivers and each day had at least one highlight and usually more with visits or hikes to places of special interest. Beyond that, the group he put together was diverse and interesting and there was never a lack of good fun conversation, or a dull moment.

In short I had the time of my life, so much so that I'm talking to Bob to see if he can put something together this spring, to hang with this engaging individual and ride more exhilarating roads and see more handsome country."

Independence Tours

Many riders have toured with us over the years without requiring a support vehicle. This year we are again offering four scheduled tours - one each in June, July, August and October - with all the features and amenities of our regular tours, but without the luxury of a support vehicle. Leaving the support vehicle parked saves us a considerable amount of money, and we can pass the savings along to you.

What does this mean to the tour customer? The only differences between the Independence Tours and our regular tours are that we carry our own clothing on our bikes, and the tour fees are considerably lower: $500 -$700 less than for our regular tours.

When I tour on vacation alone or with friends, this is my preferred way to travel. Since all we need to carry is all-weather gear and some casual clothing to change into at the end of the day, it's easy to pack what we need on the average motorcycle. Most rental bikes are equipped with luggage adequate to the task.

The photo to the left is of my 1981 Moto Guzzi LeMans, which has easily carried me, my clothes and camping gear for two weeks and longer on the road!

The 2012 tour season

We're busy putting together our 2012 tour schedule. Before January is out we will have the schedule up on our Tours page. Click on "Upcoming Tours" to find a tour to fit your interests and availability. We plan to do another camping tour in June. This is a great opportunity for more adventurous riders to really up the ante on the touring experience. There's nothing like sitting around the campfire after a great day of riding, sleeping under the stars away from it all. And because lodging is our biggest tour expense, we can offer a camping tour for considerably less than our standard tour fees. Stay tuned for details about the June tour. And if you want us to plan a custom tour for your group, please contact us to discuss your particular needs. We are always able to put together a great tour, and to adapt our calendar accordingly.

If your group of two or more riders would like to discuss a tour with us, please contact us by phone:

Don't forget, we offer a $100 discount for registrations made at least 90 days in advance!

All-inclusive Tours

For years we have been providing all meals in our tour fees, whereas most other tour operators leave lunches up to you. We continue to provide all meals, and this year we're adding another convenience: fuel is included in the fee for our regular and Independence tours.

What this means is that from the time you arrive to begin a tour to the time you head home, you can leave your wallet in your pocket! Your all-inclusive tour fee includes fuel-ups, all meals, and of course, lodging during the duration of the tour.

Plain and simple: We cover all your touring expenses! Adult beverages in the evening, souvenirs and that sort of thing are your responsibility, but everything else is included in a Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Tour.
